[3 Sep 08] The High School Academia program has as its aim to follow and help, over a three year period, under-achieving students from 10th grade to 12th grade to gain a good standard Matriculation certificate that will allow them in the future to carry on to college and university studies. The first group of 500 students from 17 schools from Eilat in the South, to Safed and the Western Galilee in the north, have recently finished 12th grade.
On Tuesday, 24.6.2008 a convention was held for all the area organizers, past and present, of "High School Academics". The convention was an emotional experience for all attending especially those in the often frustrating and difficult but immensely rewarding, day to day work of helping the students reach their full potential.
The evidence shows that their hard work and dedication have not been in vain. In the two and a half years since the program's inception, the matriculation pass rate amongst the participants has risen to 90%. Without a doubt, if the program did not exist, many of its graduates would not have gained a full matriculation and would not have been able to continue their education on to University. |
