The Madarom Campus in Be'er Sheva will be a leading and innovative setting for science education, where infrastructures for education, hospitality and recreation support each other. The Campus will consist of the Madarom Science Park, currently under construction; and the existing Beit Yatziv Educational Campus, which will be renovated and expanded.
The unique synergy between the Science Park and Beit Yatziv will bring more visitors to each, allowing for greater investment in science and technology education in the Negev. The Campus will be operated by the Beit Yatziv Company and maintained jointly by Rashi and the Be’er Sheva Municipality.
The Madarom Campus is designed as a one-of-a-kind science education center with “bottom-up” attraction: children visiting in school groups in the mornings will return together with their parents during afternoons, weekends and vacations for a shared family experience. Special emphasis will be placed on the inclusion of children from disadvantaged sectors.
For pupils, the pedagogic program will explain, enliven and expand the material learned in science lessons at school; as they grow up they will encounter the same topic in more complex form, to build a broad and deep understanding – the spiral approach to education.
The Campus will serve as a magnet and home for various educational initiatives – e.g. the Maof Center for Excellence – as well as a major site on Israel’s “educational tourism” map, attracting visitors down south. It will work in coordination with other educational tourist sites in the region, such as the Ilan Ramon Physics Center for Youth, the Solar Park at Nitzana, the Zoology and Bird Park in Be'er Sheva, the Interdisciplinary Center for Desert Studies at Sde Boker and "Hai Negev" at Kibbutz Revivim.
