The country can no longer afford to ignore the enormous potential that lies hidden in the periphery. Living far from the centers of politics, industry, commerce, and academia, the path to excellence and leadership is much rockier and steeper for those who live in small development towns and rural communities in the periphery. Yet, their talents must be nurtured for the benefit of themselves, their communities and the entire country.
This field of Rashi's work concentrates on helping young adults from underprivileged backgrounds complete higher education while giving to the community (e.g. Katzir Scholarships); developing colleges in the periphery into excellent institutes that generate economic and social benefits for their region; and offering study opportunities for highly-talented students (e.g. Horizons to High Tech program). We continue to promote excellence in science and technology studies feature (Technoda-Dorset, Madarom Science Park) so that Israel can continue to compete in the high-tech world of innovation and trade.
At the same time, we support programs such as Ma'ase that accompany and guide youngsters from adolescence through young adulthood in how to be a contributing and leading member of society, with a broad social consciousness and the drive to build the community where they live.
