Rehabilitative employment frameowrk for special-needs people from Dimona and its surroundings

Sheltered Workshop Dimona

The sheltered workshop serves people suffering from physical, mental and cognitive disabilities from Dimona and its surroundings, as part of a range of employment options for special-needs populations in the town. The 115 participants are employed in various types of jobs such as packaging, sorting and production of decorative items. As they gain new skills they can advance to more rewarding occupations and even find employment in a regular work place with proper support.

The activity is designed to promote the development of skills, abilities and habits that will help the handicapped individual become increasingly independent and integrated in the community. A personalized rehabilitation program is prepared for each one based on his or her level of functioning, needs and interests. In addition to the routine work they volunteer in army bases and also enjoy social activities – holiday celebrations, trips and more.

The sheltered workshop is operated by Yahdav in a building that was renovated and equipped by the Rashi Foundation with the support of the National Insurance Institute, the Shalem Fund and the municipality of Dimona.
