Tel Hai College's New Campus

Tel Hai College was established in 1959 and accredited as an independent academic college in 1996. The Tel Hai campus, originally built at the site of the historic Tel Hai compound, was never intended to accommodate the breadth and volume of activity that characterizes Tel Hai College today. The Rashi Foundation saw the need, and was an early-stage player in developing a master plan for a new campus on a nearby adjacent plot, which would allow the college to grow to 7,000 students by the end of this decade. We continued to support the project by managing the construction, recruiting partners and co-funding. The first stage construction has been enabled by the partnership of the Council for Higher Education, ICA Foundation, UIA Canada, UJIA and donors of the college.

Construction of the first stage of the new campus began in earnest in January 2007: two multi-purpose faculty buildings that include a library, 300-seat auditorium full range of classrooms, lecture halls, laboratories, student cafeteria, computer centers and multi-purpose spaces totaling approximately 9,000m2. With the opening of the new academic year in November 2008, these facilities are buzzing with young adults and faculty members.

Meanwhile, we have embarked on Stage 2 of the campus to add a students' center, a library, and a third multi-purpose building (Building 5), which has already attracted the support of significant partners: Council for Higher Education, UJIA, IDB Group and ICA Foundation. Building 5 is in detailed planning, and is expected to be completed by the end of 2011.
